Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Overseas Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia launched an official assertion relating to the burning of the Koran by a Swedish citizen in entrance of the Södermalm Grand Mosque, Stockholm, yesterday. The burning coincided with Eid al-Adha.
“Indonesia strongly condemns the provocative act of burning the Koran by a Swedish citizen in entrance of the Nice Mosque of Södermalm, Stockholm throughout Eid al-Adha,” wrote the Indonesian Ministry of Overseas Affairs as quoted from its official Twitter account, Thursday (29/6/2023).
“This motion has deeply harm the emotions of the Muslim neighborhood and can’t be justified.”
In accordance with the Indonesian Ministry of Overseas Affairs, freedom of expression should additionally respect the values and beliefs of different religions.
“Indonesia and OIC member nations in Sweden have expressed their protest over this incident,” wrote the Indonesian Ministry of Overseas Affairs.
As reported, the demonstration occurred in entrance of the Södermalm Grand Mosque, Stockholm, Sweden throughout the Eid al-Adha celebration. One of many two protesters even tore up and burned the Koran as a type of opposition to Islam.
As reported by Reuters, Thursday (29/6/2023), this motion was witnessed by 200 folks on the location. The Koran was torn up, used to wipe the person’s footwear after which burned. Another person shouted by a megaphone.
